Research

The Center will commission, distill, and socialize research grounded in social psychology and decision sciences that will allow us to identify how different audiences within the United States engage around issues of diversity and inclusion. We will take a deeper look at how Americans perceive various groups and why they hold certain perceptions.

Existing research tends to focus on Americans' top line opinions, without delving deeper into their mental models of the issues—that is, the way that their perceptions of various groups interact with their beliefs, values, knowledge, and life experiences. We will distill and socialize research that aims to fill this gap and test interventions that hold the most promise of bridging our divides and improving our connections.
