Inhumane Immigration Practices Require Transformative Solutions Now

Hear from Four Organizations Advocating for Reception of People Seeking Asylum

November 27, 2023

Inhumane practices. Open-air detention sites. Family separations. Long term community support needs. The entire country is contending with a system ill-equipped to welcome large asylum-seeking populations with dignity.

With critical needs at our border, immigration experts are providing tangible solutions, including increased Port of Entry infrastructure and a compassionate asylum system that keeps families together and safe during processing and as they navigate their immigration cases beyond the border.

Speakers from four non-governmental organizations serving and advocating for those seeking safety at the border, Al Otro Lado, The Florence Immigrant and Refugee Rights, the National Immigrant Justice Center and the Women’s Refugee Commission will discuss how local and federal governments can adapt their reception of migrants.

The virtual media only information session provides an opportunity to hear from the group about solutions that can be implemented now and ask questions of their own.

Media attendees are encouraged to pre-submit questions for our experts to discuss. RSVPs are required.

A recording of the event will also be provided to attendees once completed for review or inclusion in broadcast stories, as applicable.
